IT Systems Administrator

Opportunity:

Our client is a leading global defence and space company providing security through innovative systems, products and solutions to prominent worldwide Government and commercial customers.
Their Cyber Security Team require a proven IT Administrator to deploy, support and maintain multiple, segregated network infrastructures as well as supporting their future development within a rapidly-changing, fast-paced environment.

 
Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have a strong proven background in all aspects of system administration and be highly competent with Active Directory and VMware and have a good understanding of Cisco networking and SQL Server. Other responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain multiple Windows networks.
  • Management capacity of infrastructures.
  • Administration of Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Security monitoring and auditing.
  • Data Segregation.
  • Life cycle planning, control, and management of assets including inventory, sustainability, affordability, and organisation.
  • Management of change to the infrastructure to include supporting Configuration Management and Change Management activities.
  • Service Desk Incident and Problem management.
  • Assist with programme delivery.
  • Troubleshooting and issue resolving.

Essential Attributes:

  • At least 5 years’ experience providing system administration to company / mission-critical IT systems and the ability to contribute to their further development.
  • Certification in Windows Infrastructure. MCITP or equivalent.
  • Experience of VMware, SQL Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cisco Networking, Disaster Recovery and OpenStack.
  • Commitment to an ethos of superior service and the ability to work effectively whilst under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, in order to meet the needs of a wide range of external and internal service clients and to develop effective working relationships with our customers and partners.              
  • Ability to work without supervision to organise, prioritise, delegate and complete multiple tasks on an ongoing basis.
  • Solid IT troubleshooting skills in order to deal with a wide range of different processes and systems.
  • Commitment to working as a member of a team which responds flexibly to changing pressures and demands.
  • Experience in ITIL-based service management and support.
  • Experience with current service management tools, such as HP Service Manager.
  • Knowledgeable of change management and problem resolution.

 
Desirable Attributes:

  • Certification in Microsoft Server. MCSA or equivalent.
  • Certification in Microsoft SQL. MCSA or equivalent.
  • Certification in VMware. VMware Certified Professional or equivalent.
  • Certified Red Hat Systems Administrator or above.
  • The ideal candidate will be certified ITIL v3 at foundation level or higher. 

 
Additional Information:

  • The applicant must be willing and able to undergo security clearance to DV status.
  • British citizenship of at least 10 years is required.
  • This position is for a permanent member of staff.
