Data Visualisation Consultant

We are looking for individuals who are great at the art of storytelling and have the ability to tailor their creativity to fit the audience and domain. If you became part of the team, you’d be working with world class big data engineers, architects and data scientists, and would be expected to be lead with the creative spark to deliver visually powerful messages for our clients.

The team consider Data Visualisation to be an art; how you display that art, whether it’s a single picture in a PowerPoint, a geo-image in a tech like ESRI, a Tableau chart or something bespoke coded, it would be ideal for SME’s to be able to do all those things and more, but ultimately also like you to lead the way. They would also expect you to have great technical expertise but also excellent communications skills; you need to be working with clients and presenting your messages to them.
 
Skills and Experience (will be dependent upon the grade)

  • Ideal Skill Set:
    • Great communicator and story teller
    • Hands on experience of a wide range of visualisation technologies, including Tableau, Qlik, SAS Visual Analytics, D3.js, Spotfire, Jaspersoft, ESRI etc
    • Understands how the visualisation technologies can be architected and deployed for the Enterprise.
    • Familiar with statistical programming e.g. Python, SAS
    • Hands on experience using Python, R, HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java
    • Experience of UX/UI design
    • Good knowledge of SQL for accessing and processing data
    • Good software engineering practices (appreciate the importance of good coding practices unit testing, version control using git, code review…)
    • Knowledge of various database systems from which data visualisation tasks might draw data (Hadoop,PostgreSQL, SQL, NoSQL, Graph, Lucene, Streaming)

Must either hold, or be able to achieve the highest level of UK security clearance
